We’re used to hearing the news of a new sponsor for a league football club or the renewed sponsorship contract of an international men’s team, but the announcement of Nike signing up to support England Netball and the 3,000 clubs across the country? Welcome news.
There are over 1.4 million women and girls playing netball every season and at last, this significant and popular female sport is being recognised – finally. The partnership will see Vitality Roses, England’s international team, wear kit on and off the court supplied and designed by Nike. The support is also important, and will help netball grow and empower more female participants up and down the country with this incredible global brand backing.
Joanna Adams, CEO of England Netball explained the importance of the partnership. “England Netball and Nike have the shared vision of empowering women and girls in sport and we hope that together we can support the Vitality Roses on their journey to becoming the top-ranked netball team in the world. We are confident that, together, we will ignite a powerful and inspiring netball culture and make the Netball World Cup 2019 a celebration of women’s sport.”
We’ll see the kit in action from November 27 when the Vitality Roses play in the Vitality International Series against Uganda. Good luck!
