One of the elegant five guest bedrooms in the Victorian country house, which dates back to 1871 and costs £90 per night
The house dates back to 1871, the same year author Thomas Hardy designed the Holy Trinity Church in West Lulworth when he was working as a trainee architect for John Hicks
The award for Bindon Bottom in 2017 was based on thousands of positive reviews from guests stating it was the best BB they had ever stayed in. They posted pictures showing the stunning interiors furnished to the standard of a five-star hotel.
The Victorian country house beat competition from BBs in America, the Czech Republic, Italy and Belgium.
Mr and Mrs Orchard gave up their careers in retail and IT to set up the high-end BB in 2010 and extensively remodelled the house.

Some of the house’s stone and Gothic features are similar to the church’s – and it’s thought Hardy may have designed this property, too.
Bindon Bottom is currently arranged so it has private quarters at the back of property in a two-storey extension with a kitchen, snug and private bedroom suite for the owners. The rest of the house is for guests.
There are five guest bedrooms, all with en-suites, a breakfast room and the basement is currently used as a gym/games room.

But the property, which has 2,709 sq ft of accommodation, could easily be reconfigured to make a large family home.
Ashley Rawlings, from Savills, who is marketing the property, said: ‘Bindon Bottom is in a prime location, ideally positioned to attract the tourists who flock to Lulworth Cove all year round.

‘The property is presented in immaculate condition with elegant and well-appointed accommodation, which has resulted in the business’s deserved superb reputation.
‘It offers a wonderful lifestyle and the chance to run a highly successful and established tourist business.
‘Or it would be very simple to reconfigure the property into a private home, which is in an idyllic location for bringing up a family. Or it could be a coastal escape for weekends and holidays.’
